Our vetting process searches for dependable individuals who are both invested in creating exceptional student experiences and have the classroom management skills to do so.

  2. Three professional references, including one supervisor
  3. State and FBI mandated criminal history check
  4. National sex offender background check

Progressive training

Our work doesn’t end when the placement begins. We continue upskilling our substitute teachers.

  1. Your long-term substitute teachers attend seasonal, synchronous training – built by us and tailored for subs
  2. All educators receive 1:1 coaching with their assigned Scoot consultant

We partner with TeachStart to help you build a pipeline of diverse, certificated educators.

  1. Substitute teachers are placed at your schools as “TeachStart Fellows”.
  2. Fellows enroll in a credentialing program while supporting your classrooms.
  3. When Fellows earn their lead teaching credential, you get priority hiring.

Can I purchase training for my internal substitute teachers?

Yes! Scoot Education regularly runs facilitator-led, synchronous professional learning for both committed Scoot paras and partners’ internal staff.
